Our Environmental Commitments

1. Low-Impact Transport We are committed to reducing carbon emissions by utilizing collective and specialized transport.

Access: Our hikers reach the trailheads (Landmannalaugar and Thórsmörk) exclusively via scheduled highland buses or specialized group vehicles.
Established Routes: We operate only on marked, designated tracks to avoid soil erosion and protect the delicate volcanic terrain.

2. Responsible Accommodation Whether you are sleeping under canvas or in a mountain hut, your stay is designed to respect the land.

Huts: We utilize approved mountain huts that adhere to strict environmental regulations regarding waste and energy.
Camping: Camping is only permitted in designated areas to prevent the destruction of fragile sub-arctic vegetation and endemic mosses.

3. Waste Management & The "Pack In, Pack Out" Rule The Highlands have no waste collection services.

We operate a strict Zero Waste policy. Everything brought onto the trail must be carried out.
We provide our hikers with guidelines on how to minimize packaging and manage waste responsibly during their trek.

4. Respect for Water and Soil

Icelandic water is some of the purest in the world. We encourage the use of reusable bottles and discourage single-use plastics.
We educate our trekkers on the importance of staying on marked trails to prevent the permanent scarring of the landscape.

Social and Ethical Responsibility

Local Support: We work closely with the Wardens and the Iceland Touring Association (FÍ) to support the maintenance and conservation of the trail.
Education: Sustainability is not just a policy; it is part of our briefing. Every hiker is informed about the specific vulnerability of the Icelandic Highlands before they take their first step.
